Job Description:
Secured Investment Corp is looking for a Corporate Journalist to become the internal voice for its suite of brands focused on the capture and creation of company news and feature stories for use on its websites, traditional media and social media platforms.
As a member of the Marketing team, the Corporate Journalist will be reporting timely Company news and producing at least one feature news story (3 – 5 minutes) per week. Candidates must have an enthusiasm for news and a love of journalism with a professional on-air delivery.
Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Corporate Journalist will also have matrixed accountability to divisional leadership and outside marketing agencies.
What you’ll do:
- Manage the regular creation and flow of timely, new content on corporate websites; engage our audience on major social media platforms; drive traffic to our events, webinars, podcasts, etc...; otherwise assist in growing the online presence for our brands
- Produce digital content that supports and enhances corporate initiatives, such as writing breaking and trending news articles, press releases, blogs, creating social media content, newsletters, videos and podcasts
· Lead the in-house capture of content (photos) at our company events, parties, etc... and create interesting social posts and news releases related to these events. Always be promotionally minded for both our local and national audience
· Reports company news stories for broadcast, describing the background and details of events
· Arranges interviews with people who can provide information about stories
· Determines a story’s emphasis, length, and format, and organizes material accordingly
- Bring an array of original ideas and concepts to help create new content that promotes audience engagement
- Occasionally write press releases to promote our latest offerings and company news -- Pitches stories to news managers and news producers which are relevant to the local community
What you’ll need:
- Journalism experience is required. The ideal candidate will have experience in broadcast journalism
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in journalism
- News media experience preferred
- Strong research and writing skills. Ability to write quickly and communicate clearly, producing news and feature stories for print and web
- Ability to work collaboratively with a small team, complete work on deadline with minimal supervision, and interact with the public in a professional manner
- Willingness to learn and the desire to continually improve your craft
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and multi-task
- Excellent project management skills; strong attention to detail and high work standards
- Strong oral and written communications skills; proven writing, editing, proofreading and copywriting skills covering news and site content generation
- Ability to work within prescribed guidelines without needing close supervision
