Job description
Toby’s Family Foods is looking for an Inventory Control Specialist!!
We are a family owned and operated natural foods company. We make gourmet salad dressings, Toby's Tofu Dip, and Genesis Organic Juice.
How did it all start?
Well, it started with the one and only Toby of course. The company originated at the Oregon Country Fair in 1987, where Toby created many of the original recipes that remain famous to this day. The Tofu Pate was first produced for sale, from Toby's home certified kitchen. She and her partner made the product in the morning, loaded finished goods into an ice chest, and personally delivered the product to various natural foods stores in Eugene. Soon after Toby received calls from local mainstream grocery stores seeking to carry the products. In 1994 Toby's son, Jonah, joined the family business, and a few years later the company moved to a larger facility. Currently, plans are being implemented to expand production and distribute Toby's Family Foods nationally. Toby's Family Foods' best history has yet to be written!
Genesis Organic Juice, a pioneer of organic, raw, and cold-pressed beverages, was founded in 1975 as a juice cooperative in Eugene, Ore. Partnering with Toby’s Family Foods after the unpasteurized juice ban in 2007, Genesis became one of the first juice companies to turn to High Pressure Processing (HPP), a method that preserves the flavor, color and nutrition of the product with high pressure instead of heat. True to its co-op roots, Genesis continues to produce small batches of handcrafted juices carefully selecting high-quality, organic and whole fruits, never using purees or concentrates. Genesis is currently sold throughout the Pacific Northwest in co-ops, independent markets, and grocery chains including New Seasons Market, Whole Foods, and Market of Choice.
Inventory Control Specialist Position:
We're looking for a "numbers person", the rest we can train. You have to love counting to be in this position but there's room for other duties to change it up depending on your aptitudes. We're a small office crew that is missing a vital chain in the link and we're excited to meet that new person!
We operate Monday - Friday with some flexibility with your start time but production begins at 8am. The schedule may vary from week to week based on our production schedule so the hours should be expected to be 35-40.
An Inventory Control Specialist at Toby’s will be expected to:
- Develop a purchasing inventory plan for Toby's based on current and projected inventory needs of each department.
- Have strong communication skills to maintain communications with owner, warehouse supervisor, fellow office team members.
- Feel confident in accurately and safely loading, unloading, sorting, picking, stocking, transporting, and securing inventory.
- Be capable with Quickbooks or able to become so in a timely manner.
- Investigate discrepancies in inventory and troubleshoot to prevent future issues.
- Ensure inventory matches invoice payments and packing lists and investigate discrepancies.
- Perform cycle counts of raw materials on a regular basis.
- Attention to detail with strong organization and follow through skills are a must for this job.
Physical Requirements of this position:
- Ability to lift 50lbs on occasion
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be comfortable walking, standing, sitting, twisting, bending, and kneeling
Additional Requirements:
- High school diploma or the equivalent
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring that food safety is not compromised in any way by following our Good Manufacturing Practices is a requirement of all Toby's employees.
- Previous food production inventory control experience is a plus but we will train the right candidate!
Compensation:
We have an initial employment period of 500 hours, during this period the wage is $17 per hour. During this period, you have the opportunity to evaluate whether the work for which you were hired, the people with whom you work, and the general atmosphere and conditions at Toby's meet (and we hope exceed) your expectations! At the same time, we will be evaluating your performance, ability to learn, reliability (including attendance and punctuality) and your ability to get along with others. After the initial employment period, the wage increases based on a written review of these points. Raises after that are based on performance and attendance. Self-motivated and reliable employees with a keen eye to detail tend to climb the pay scale fairly quickly at Toby's!
We would like to meet you! Please drop off your resume or fill out an application at our facility; we are located at 1160 Shelley Street in Springfield.
