Are you a wannabe Data Scientist?

We are a Big Data platform company and data IS our product! We are looking to add a skilled and passionate Junior Data Scientist to our team in Milan.

You will get the chance to work closely with our senior Data Scientists and interface day by day with engineering and product teams to create big data algorithms that turn our data into critical information and new products.

You will learn from the DS team how to present your findings by exposing assumptions and validation work in a way that can be easily understood by business counterparts. You will get your hands dirty with everything from data exploration and initial prototyping to deployment of data-driven production code.

In a year or so we'll coach you and train you to become a real Data Scientist, able to identify how to best leverage our data to improve our platform, working with our internal Python/pySpark Data Science Stack and a modern architectural infrastructure. Don't worry, you can always count on the support of both your senior teammates and experienced Big Data engineers.

What you'll learn:

• Designing experiments, testing hypotheses, and building models
• Conducting advanced data analyses and highly complex algorithms
• Discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining, and visualization techniques
• Providing data that is congruent and reliable, and validating your findings using an experimental and iterative approach
• Proposing innovative ways to look at problems on the set of information available: we need your fresh insight!

Who you are:

• A team player who loves to collaborate and work with stakeholders from different backgrounds in an international environment.
• A strong (and fun!) communicator
• You have a passion for finding pragmatic and smart solutions to complex problems
• You *really* have a solid understanding of math and statistics
• You have basics of SQL
• You master Jupyter, pandas, NumPy, matplotlib/seaborn, and scikit-learn
• You love to write clean and maintainable Python code

We're also looking for:

• Work hard/play hard mindset
• Proficient in English (we work a lot with the New York office)
• The ability to say no, and to explain why
• Strong ping pong skills
• Experience in:
• building/contributing to python libraries
• geospatial or mapping technologies - it's our bread and butter!
• BigData (e.g. Spark, Presto, Hadoop)
• Web application development (Dash, HTML, JS, React)
• TensorFlow, Keras and/or PyTorch
