Urban Habitat is one of the leading commercial landscape contractors through So California markets. We specialize in large public works and commercial landscaping projects. Our projects include office, retail, affordable housing, senior living, resort and community parks. We are seeking a senior level buyer to join the team! The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in landscape purchasing, irrigation, and or nursery industry.

Reporting office location: Riverside or Los Angeles Countys

Responsibilities and Duties

• Research and selects purchase quality products and materials. Negotiate lowest pricing on large projects for all materials.
• Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
• Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
• Leverage buying power and economies of scale with bulk purchases and/or vendor discounts based on quantity purchasing and/or multi-project buy outs. Buy direct from manufacturer, when possible.
• Estimate material or service value according to knowledge of market price.
• Track long lead items and verify committed delivery dates.
• Study market trends, especially with commodity-based materials, and position the company accordingly. Incorporate bulk buy or substitution alternatives into leverage plan.
• Procure and prepare landscape submittals for review.
• Build trust-based professional relationships rooted in Urban Habitat Core Values.
• Initiate and negotiate Master Purchase Orders with subcontracts.
• Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
• Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
• Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
• Coordinate with construction and maintenance teams, management, and field crews as required.
• Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
• Prepare detailed purchasing estimates by calculating complete take-off of scope of work
• Prepare final estimate summaries, analyzing each section for scope, pricing and completeness

Qualifications and Skills

Read and understand landscape irrigation and landscape blueprints

Professional and verifiable experience in Landscape Construction/Maintenance industry.

Experience using Plan Swift estimating software

Valid Driver's License

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
