Job description
ECI Contracting is currently seeking a nation-wide traveling Safety Specialist to join our trenchless and underground construction team. The National Safety Specialist will create, support, and audit our programs which reinforce our commitment to safety. In addition, this role will work to ensure regulatory compliance, contract and client safety expectations, and adherence to the company’s published safety policies and standards. This person can expect to spend most of their time on jobsites conducting site audits and assessments of employee performance and jobsite conditions. Frequent overnight travel will be required.
This is a detail-oriented position responsible for preparing complete and timely field safety audits and proper record keeping. The position will also verify to ensure work is being executed as planned, problem-solve with operations, assist with corrective measures, and provide resources and coaching to correct and maintain solutions. The following is a broad overview of the duties and responsibilities:
- Assist in developing, reviewing, updating, and communication of company’s safety policies and standards.
- Identify and work to correct potential hazards and unsafe work conditions.
- Assist with incident investigations and implementation of effective solutions.
- Assist in completing Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and attend EH&S toolbox safety meetings.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 10 years of training, safety, or gas distribution experience.
- Knowledge of DOT operator qualification compliance regulations and industry standards preferred.
- OSHA 300, 500, or 510 certifications preferred.
- Experience in HDD, Oil & Gas, or similar industries preferred.
- Working knowledge of federal, state and industry requirements to resolve compliance issues.
- Ability to organize and prioritize daily workload, follow, and promote policies/ procedures, and maintain company confidentiality.
- Experience in developing technical programs in accordance with industry requirements and conduct training sessions with field employees to support operations.
