ABB's Distribution Solutions Division provides utility, industrial and commercial customers with safe, smart and sustainable technologies for the distribution of electricity. With ABB AbilityTM enabled digital solutions at its core, our extensive portfolio includes distribution automation products, switching, limiting, measuring and sensing devices, switchgear, modular substation packages, and related services. The role reports to the Quality Manager and is located in Selmer, Tennessee. As a Quality Technician, you will be responsible to act to improve safety, operating efficiency, quality and productivity in the value chain, to improve customer satisfaction and increase profitability in a safe working environment across the local business. An individual contributor who performs tasks or activities using advanced skills and techniques as well as practical understanding of concepts used in a field of technology. Responsibilities typically involve functional or technical leadership related to set up, configuration, testing or maintenance of equipment, products or systems. Works under direct supervision on pre defined tasks.
Your responsibilities
- Quality metrics Reports in an accurate and timely manner on Quality and Operational Excellence (Q&OpEx) metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the analysis and management of local processes
- Process audits Conducts process audits to ensure the conformance of working practices with established processes and procedures
- Measurement Utilizes measurement systems to produce data that reflect the accurate characteristics of materials, products, systems and processes
- Process improvement Leads small groups of employees in the usage of the standard quality improvement approach (that is, 4Q) to implement improvements in local procedures
- Safety Performs assigned tasks in a safe manner that will encourage others to exercise safety in their normal daily activities
Your background
- A Bachelor's degree preferred and minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge and experience of SAP
- Previous quality experience a plus
- A collaborative, solution focused approach, with strong written and spoken communication skills, as well as relationship building skills
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
