Regional Attendance Coordinator

Position Summary
Working from one of our Family Service Centers, the Regional Attendance Coordinator will be responsible for the following tasks.

?In order to be successful in any role at CCA, employee must carry out all responsibilities in such a way that demonstrates and models the values of CCA, abides by all standards and behaves in a professional and engaged manner at all times.

Team/Region:

  • Manage data within different databases and the student information systems to effectively locate information used to communicate with families, county and statewide organizations.
  • Serve as the point of contact within an assigned region (several counties) by building rapport with school districts, county nonprofit agencies, and magisterial district court officials within that region.
  • Research and maintain knowledge of programs in your assigned counties to effectively support students in their compulsory school attendance requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues of other regions in a team environment to make sure all time sensitive and critical tasks are complete.
  • Ensure proper Special Education procedures and policies with regard to truancy are being followed in accordance with PDE requirements.

Truancy Data Analysis

  • Demonstrate high levels of skill with various Microsoft Excel functions and formulas.
  • Ensure timely communication, in the family’s preferred language, as required by PA law throughout the truancy process.
  • Review student attendance records to ensure Assistant Principals and Principals are alerted in a timely manner and proper actions are taken based on Pennsylvania School Code, PDE, and Act 138 protocols.

CYS Referrals and Citations

  • Refer students to a school-based or community-based attendance improvement program or the county Children and Youth Service (CYS) agency when necessary.
  • Maintain records and update academic teams regarding students referred to truancy programs or CYS.
  • Research the proper jurisdiction and method of filing a truancy citation.
  • Write citations against the student or parent in a Magisterial District Court. Prepare supporting documentation for submission with the citation and assist CCA staff with truancy hearing preparations.
  • Ensure all citations and truancy cases are complete and closed by the end of the school year.? Contact judges’ offices to request continuance if needed and request the withdrawal of outstanding citations.

Other responsibilities

  • Work effectively with Academic and Enrollment/Records staff to ensure families in homeless situations do not receive truancy consequences if they are not able to attend school daily, but that all parties are communicating on the students’ well-being and long-term goals.
  • Work with other departments including Administration and Family Services to ensure families have a positive experience at CCA

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role. Requires the ability to lift, squat, sit, bend or stand as necessary. Ability to travel to other sites/locations as needed.

Required Education

  • Associates degree

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in a school setting
  • Familiarity with cyber education.
  • Background in education is beneficial
  • Bi-lingual

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • Appropriate Automobile Insurance Coverage
