RESEARCH ASSOCIATE I/II, NEUROLOGY RESEARCH

Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a leader in antisense oligonucleotide research and drug discovery, is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join the Neuroscience Drug Discovery team. This position is responsible for assisting in the execution of studies focused on identifying and validating treatments for neurological diseases. A successful candidate will be able to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. We are seeking a technically proficient individual to execute nucleic acid analyses (e.g., RNA isolation and qPCR) and assist in conducting rodent studies. This is an individual contributor position that will be working in the laboratory as an integral part of the drug discovery team.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BS or MS degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, or related fields; minimum of 2 years of professional experience in an academic or industry research
• Experience with rodent handling (e.g., compound administration, organ collection, and necropsy)
• Laboratory experience with proficiency in techniques focused on RNA such as RNA isolation, qPCR, etc.
• Experience with rodent microsurgeries (e.g., intracerebroventricular injections) is a plus
• Experience with protein analysis techniques such as western blot and ELISA is a plus
• Ability to analyze large data sets and maintain records
• Strong interpersonal skills with experience working in a team setting
• Strong organization, written and communication skills
• Ability to be successful in an intense work environment
