PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- The incumbent is responsible for servicing the current customer base, increasing sales within that base and establishing new accounts.
- This position’s primary function is to be responsible for effectively dealing with customer complaints and recommending consignment in accounts where necessary.
- Secondary function, in a lead by example attitude, is to attend implants and follow-ups related to CRM high voltage and low voltage stimulation devices
- This position is additionally responsible for ensuring that all questions of a technical nature from external or internal sources are answered in an expeditious manner and reported to the competent authorities within Abbott.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Achieve sales quota per plan by servicing the current customer base, increasing the sales volume to that base and establishing new accounts. Complexity is high (territory and/or account, products/services, sales or account management process).
- Have authority to make sales commitments for assigned efforts and is accountable for results. May provide substantial input to division-wide sales standards, practices, procedures and policies. Prepares important tenders.
- Implement comprehensive sales plans to ensure increased market penetration and establishing of new accounts. Plans own territory or account approach and manages own resources.
- Analyzes sales statistics; prepares reports; and performs required administrative sales duties, e.g., filing expense account reports, scheduling appointments, and making travel plans.
- Maintain business operations in accordance with corporate policies in respect to pricing, quotes, credit terms, expense reporting and Quality guidelines.
- Follow and share the best practices guidelines before and after the sales call.
- Maintain thorough knowledge/awareness of competition products.
- Train Field Service Engineers, customers and other colleagues when and as appropriate.
- Provide insights on possible product line extensions or product enhancements and develop and submit proposals in regards to these product changes.
- Act as Company ambassador at all times i.e. represent the Company in a professional manner and with highest integrity as the prime contact with facilities, physicians and patients.
- Apply the company Account Profiling system and ensure the following basic information is incorporated in the accounts: people, their preferred behavioral styles, volume of product, competitors, local politics, decision structure including decision makers, needs, brief history, proposed minimum call frequency.
- Is responsible to comply with the H.C.P. guidelines.
EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES
- In-depth understanding of Abbott (or similar) product lines and solid understanding of business, financials, products/services, the market and the needs of assigned accounts
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferential Biomedical engineering or equivalent)
- 5 years of successful sales experience within medical device industry (10 or above is considered preferential)
- 5 years of successful experience in cathlab as technical consultant, product specialist and/or marketing product manager
- Deep knowledge of tenders’ process management
- Well organized, capable of juggling multiple projects and accustomed to tight deadlines.
- Excellent personal computer skills including MS Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point.
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills
- Customer- and results- oriented, self-starter
