We are seeking a Senior Instrumentation Engineer to join team at Eichleay. This is a full-time position which offers competitive compensation and a benefits package with a 401K match. In this role you will work in a schedule driven environment where timing is a critical function. As a member of the instrumentation team, you will work in a collaborative multi-discipline environment and report into the Instrumentation Team Lead. We offer flexible work schedules including every other Friday off and the ability to be based in a location of your choice. This position can be based out of our Concord, CA office or our other office locations (CA, MT, or WA). Alternatively, this position may be based in a home office working remotely within the states we operate in the Pacific, Mountain, and Central Time zones (CA, CO, MT, NV, UT, TX, WA). Travel is required as needed for occasional onsite field visits to work closely with our onsite team and our clients.
Compensation: $105,000 - $112,500 *anticipated annual salary may vary based on qualification and location.

Do you enjoy getting involved in small to large projects working with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and designers? At Eichleay you will perform design engineering for a variety of brown field and revamp facilities in the refining, chemical and food and beverage industries. Design engineering consists of conceptual design, basic engineering and detailed design for reimbursable & lump sum projects.
Your duties will include performing instrument drawings, data sheets, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, specifications, calculations and spreadsheets (e.g. instrument index). You will devise new approaches to problems, prepare or modify data sheets, spreadsheets, drawings, specifications, calculations and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and Client standards. You will also be involved in project controls, cost estimates, quantity takeoffs and manpower requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders.
You may provide technical guidance to less experienced design and engineering personnel.
Additional Job Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Ability to apply thorough knowledge of instrumentation and control systems engineering, following good engineering practice.
- Experience working on multi-discipline projects and understanding of interfaces between all disciplines.
- Develops instrumentation and control systems scope of work, supports budgets, schedules, and professional labor hour estimates.
- Plans, organizes, and coordinates own work and supports assigned engineering staff.
- Receives supervision and performs general review of all aspects of project deliverables.
- Supports P&ID development and possesses an understanding of process controls.
- Develop control, functional and logic narratives, cause and effect diagrams and other safety and control documentation independently or with input from more experienced staff and subject matter specialists.
- Support development of Instrument Index, I/O List, and all design deliverables.
- May participate in HAZOP and LOPA reviews.
- Develop familiarity with calculations and understanding of safety instrumented systems (SIS) design with guidance from SIS subject matter specialists.
- Demonstrates awareness and commitment to health, safety and environmental issues.
- Consistently achieves goals, delivers quality and accurate work and meets timelines. This includes reviewing project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
- Use engineering and design computer software to complete assigned work.
- Strong customer focus with commitment to building enduring relationships that yield customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Ability to deal with change and demonstrate flexibility as required.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or scientific discipline from an ABET accredited program and over four years of experience with advance knowledge in I&C engineering, obtainable usually through a combination of experience and continuing education.
- Industry experience in one or more of the following: Oil and Gas, Renewables, Food & Beverage, Facilities, Mining and Minerals, BioPharma or a related complex process industry.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledgeable in industry safe work practices in the field.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite.
- Working knowledge of a broad range of industry standards including NFPA, API, ASME, ANSI, ISA, ISPE, cGMPs. Familiarity with developing documents according to GAMP.
- Ability to work onsite at industrial locations. Ability to be badged for process safety management governed facilities, which require pre-hire substance abuse screening and random substance abuse screening thereafter.
- Active TWIC card or ability to obtain
- Must be able to participate in field job walks and site visits which may include climbing enclosed ladders and stairs and working on enclosed platforms.
Preferred Requirements/Skills:
- Licensed PE or EIT.
- Instrumentation engineering experience supporting refinery, chemical, mining and/or winery projects.
- SPI familiarity is preferred.
- Experience in Smart Plant (SPI) and/or Smart Instrumentation (SI).

- Background screening including previous employment, education, criminal history, and driving record verification.
- Participation in random drug and alcohol program.
