The Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us. In this role, you will work in an agile environment to help keep our offerings and services competitive within the ever-changing container landscape. To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be interested in working on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Kubernetes, operating systems, continuous integration (CI), and more.

- Develop features and bug fixes in Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform within an agile team
- Ensure that there are test plans for the code you create and that documentation is correct
- Become responsible for the quality of our offerings, participate in peer code reviews and CI and continuous delivery (CD), and respond to security threats
- Serve as an escalation point of contact for customer and internal teams
- Participate in architectural discussions of system designs, programming interfaces, and interdependencies of the control plane, operators, CI, etc., both in the Kubernetes upstream communities and the Red Hat OpenShift project
- Collaborate with other engineering teams on integrations
- Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment
- Good understanding of Linux operating system
- Demonstrated expertise in coding with one or more programming languages like Go, Python, C, C++, Rust, Ruby, etc.
- Experience building and deploying container-based applications
- Understanding of how open source and free software communities work
The following are considered a plus:
- Understanding of Kubernetes architecture and internals
- Experience with programming in Go
- Experience troubleshooting complex issues in distributed systems
- Experience with development for public cloud services like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Compute Engine (GCE), or Microsoft Azure
- Ability to present to customers and stakeholders
- Record of previous contributions to open source projects or being an open source maintainer
