Grand Hotel Timeo, a Belmond Hotel, Taormina is searching for a passionate Sommelier to join their team for the 2023 season.

The ideal candidate is willing to provide excellent and personalized guest experiences, he / she should have exceptional taste and exemplary customer service skills. The sommelier is responsible for the selection of wines and their service throughout the Food and Beverage operation.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Anticipate guests needs, providing an excellent and personalized guest experience according to our service standards;
  • Collaborate with the Bar Manager and Restaurant Manager to establish the wine selection;
  • Develop special events about wine;
  • Cooperate with the Restaurant Manager for staff development;
  • Inventory and requisitions: assist in monitoring stock levels and ordering replacement deliveries. Avoid any waste and capable to control beverage margins;
  • Compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • To maintain the appropriate levels of beverage stocks by monitoring purchases and sales, ensuring professional, efficient and accurate service of all types of beverages, but with a focus on wines, in order to completely satisfy our guests during their meal experience.



NATURE & SCOPE

Reports directly to the Restaurant Manager of Grand Hotel Timeo or to any other employee who will be indicated in the letter confirming the actual start date or who will be indicated by the FB Manager during the course of the employment relationship. Ensure all routine matters are handled effectively with or without guidance and must be able to interact with employees within all areas. Maintain and up-date as required a departmental filing system, which ensures that documentation is easily accessible. Adhere to the Company's Procedures and rules. Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure work is of the highest level. Establish high levels of participation in the project during its pre and post opening stages to set the required operational standards in all Grand Hotel Timeo FB Venues in line with international standards.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in similar and/or related fields in a 5* Hotel.
  • At least 1 year experience at same level.
  • Fluent English and additional languages desirable
  • Sommelier Association membership degree appreciated (AIS or WSET)
