Job description
Position Summary
Design and build production fixtures, dies, gages, and jigs to be used in manufacturing products.
Duties
Conceptualize and design fixtures, dies, gages, and jigs to be used in the machining, fabrication and assembly of products.
Perform mathematical calculations (i.e., trigonometry) to obtain x and y coordinates for machined features.
Type memos to keep management informed on projects.
Assist with the training of the production machinist.
Trouble shoots various problems (i.e., improper tooling, dull tools, wrong of machined feature, etc.) and develops corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
Initiate material requisitions for raw materials and components for tool build.
Estimate labor and material costs of tool build for accounting purposes.
Document and maintain records for all special tools used in manufacturing.
Required Experience
Education/License Requirements: High school graduate/GED - Minimum. Associate Degree/Trade school preferred.
Experience Requirements
A solid background (3-5 years) in tooling and fixture design in CNC machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Sound trouble shooting skills.
Strong math skills including the ability to apply them.
Good interpersonal skills.
Minimum of three (3) years CAD experience preferred.
Good PC skills.
Minimum five (5) years experience in machining/metal removal methods.
Knowledge of tool room equipment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $35.00 per hour
