RINA is currently recruiting for a Welding/Inspection Engineer to join its office in Genoa or Milan, Italy within the Energy Engineering Solutions Division
Mission
Analyse project specific’s requirements for Welding & NDE activities, interpreting regulatory and statutory requirements, codes and customer specifications relating to fabrication, welding and materials.
Job Responsibilities
- Preparation of project technical specifications, such as project Job Specifications for Welding & NDE (mainly for pressure equipment & piping materials and dealing with requirements for activities such as supply and prefabrication).
- Review of Vendors’ documentation, such as procedures (NDE, PWHT, etc.), Welding Books, etc.
- Among welding activities:
- Review and establishes welding procedure specifications (WPS) to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification and Code restrictions, material processes and pre- and post-heating requirements.
- Review welding techniques and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of components, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles.
- review existing Procedure Qualifications (PQR) and supervise new ones (knowledge of main mechanical tests such as tensile, bend, impact and hardness)
- Review existing Welder’s Qualification (WPQ) and supervise new ones.
- Review technical procedures and reports as result of NDE investigation.
Experience & Requirements
- Preferably 5 years of previous experience in similar roles, preferably in Oil&Gas sector.
- Technical competencies and working knowledge about welding and related topics, through previous experience, preferably with a specific qualification such as International Welding Engineer (IWE) or equivalent.
- Technical competencies about welding inspections, preferably with qualifications such as International Welding Inspector (IWI) or equivalent (e.g. CSWIP).
- Technical competencies and working knowledge about main NDE techniques (e.g. VT, PT, MT, RT, UT and advanced methods), through previous experience, preferably with a level 2 EN certification or equivalent in one or more of the mentioned techniques.
- main standards and Codes applicable to metallic materials and related manufacturing processes, Welding and Quality Management Systems, NDE, design and fabrication of pressure equipment and piping materials (e.g., ASME Sect II-V-VIII-IX-B31.3, ASTM, API, NACE, AWS, EN, etc.)
- Advanced use of MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
- Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
