Do you enjoy working on projects as an Instrumentation Designer? We are seeking an Instrumentation Designer to join our Instrumentation Engineering and Design team. This is a full-time position that will be based at the Eichleay Ferndale office or on-site at an industrial facility as required.
Position Profile:
As an Instrumentation Designer at Eichleay you will work with project teams to complete the design of instrumentation for capital, maintenance and repair projects. You will support a variety of diverse projects. In this role you will be responsible for preparation and revisions to detail and assembly drawings using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). You will coordinate and consult with Engineers to create designs, layouts, and detailed components/systems drawings. You will review and analyze technical specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to prepare drawings and assist in design drafting. You will receive supervision from a senior Designer and/or Engineer.
Additional Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Prepares drawings, specifications, technical calculations, construction work packages, and bills of material.
- Wire loops, prepare instrument index and wiring reports in SPI.
- Assists others to collect or deliver design and engineer data.
- Participate in job walks and perform site visits, assisting in scope development and support IFC package completion.
- Demonstrates awareness and commitment to health, safety, and environmental issues. Addresses those issues as necessary to ensure zero harm to all employees, clients, contractors with zero environmental incidents.

- Effectively interacts with all levels of employees, clients, and vendors.

- Will work at a client office, facility, or site. When performing work outside Eichleay’s office, appropriate safety training and safety equipment will be provided by Eichleay and/or client as required.
Job Requirements:
- Associate degree in an engineering or scientific discipline; or specialized courses in drafting, design, and engineering practices with 4 years or more experience.
- Sound knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, computer modeling work, and reading of drawings.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Interacts with clients, project field personnel, and other team staff.
- Experience with AutoCAD/Graphics software and Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI).
- Experience with Microsoft Suite.
- TWIC certification and current card or ability to obtain.
- Ability to work on-site at a refinery or industrial facility.
- Ability to be badged for process safety management governed facilities, which will require pre-hire substance abuse screening and random substance abuse screening thereafter.
Preferred Requirements
- Previous experience working on-site at an oil refining or industrial facility.
