YOUR TEAM

The Analytical Chemistry Facility (ACF, https://www.iit.it/web/analytical-chemistry-facility ) provides technical and scientific support to many different IIT Research Lines working in the area of Life Sciences. The ACF is an open, collaborative, multicultural and multi-disciplinary group of people, working at the boundaries between analytical sciences, chemistry, biochemistry and biology. The Facility is equipped with state-of-the art NMR and Mass Spec instruments for the exploration of the chemical space. The Facility is currently expanding its activities: many new opportunities are opening up, also from industrial collaborations.

For this position we are looking for a NMR specialist who will mainly support the Medicinal Chemistry Lines in the NMR structural characterizations of newly synthetized chemical entities. The successful candidate will be in charge of the Bruker 400 MHz NMR instrumentation, ensuring its functionality also in Open Access (OA) mode.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• MSc degree in chemistry or closely related area.

• Confirmation and/or elucidation of the chemical structure of small organic molecules synthesized in the MedChem Laboratories, by means of dedicated NMR experiments (like 1H, 13C, 2D homo-nuclear 1H-1H COSY, NOESY, hetero-nuclear spectra and variable temperature measurements).

• Excellent knowledge and management of all NMR activities in Open Access mode, including troubleshooting, automation and user training.

• Experience in instrument maintenance and optimization.

• Good command of spoken and written English

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

• Previous experience in impurity profiling and quantitative NMR (q-NMR) will be considered a plus.
