Principal Embedded Software Engineer: - Medical Device New Product Development

Skills emphasized: Embedded C, micro control, microprocessors emphasis, electro-mechanical and robotic systems.

Principal Embedded Software Engineer Must Have:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, or Computer Science with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
  • Advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in embedded software engineering, firmware engineering

Principal Embedded Software Engineer Strongly Desired Skills:

  • 8+ years of embedded software development experience in a process-oriented environment. Experience with IEC 62304 standard highly desirable.
  • Must have practical programming experience delivering real products.
  • Must demonstrate significant proficiency in embedded C.
  • Experience with real-time software on microprocessor-based systems. (knowledge of one or more real-time OS is desirable).
  • Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets.
  • Experience with test-driven development and unit testing strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review.
  • Experience developing software for medical products.
  • Knowledge of communication data protocols (such as TCP/UDP/IP, etc.).
  • Capable of developing high quality, structured, modular code.
  • Capable of developing software interfaces for communicating with physical devices via SPI, I2C, serial/UART, PWM generators, Ethernet etc.
  • Knowledge of basic electronics required; must be comfortable using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, etc. to debug the hardware/software interface.
  • Proficient with standard OS features (e.g. threading and concurrency, memory management, device drivers, I/O, etc)
  • Exposure to FDA or regulatory body submittals for devices with software.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $155,000.00 - $182,000.00 per year
