Be Ferrero's next Production Manager producing Baby Ruth at our Franklin Park manufacturing facility. As the Production Manager, Baby Ruth you will be one of our Plant leaders, driving continuous improvement, guiding the day-to-day efforts of your Production Supervisors and Production Line Employees, ensuring that goals are met, products are being manufactured efficiently, cost effectively and in line with Ferrero's high quality standards.
In this role you will be the primary reference point for all activities connected to the development, improvement and innovation of Baby Ruth. Flexibility, adaptability and resilience will be the critical to finding success and thriving in this position.
This position reports to the Plant Director.
Main Responsibilities:
Budget
- Work with stakeholders across the business to prepare fiscal year budgets including Maintenance Budget, Investments, Energy and General production expenditures.
- Prepare the production budget with the support of the Production Factor Analysis and Local Documentation PFA&LDU (cycles, waste and efficiencies).
Production
- Ensure that the finished product is manufactured in accordance with quality standards and by the projected timelines.
- Organize and manage workforce; responsible for all employees in area.
- Constantly monitor performance of the lines, efficiency and waste reduction.
- Strive for continuous improvement by increasing productivity and reducing waste.
- Optimization in the use of the production factors: ensures the correct use of the production factors in order to maximize the UGP unit results (Raw and packaging Materials, equipment, labor)
- Coaches and guides the RTOs (Shift Supervisors) in their daily activities and ensure that production schedules are carried out;
- Manage schedules and assignment of work activities, based on priority, equipment and skill of personnel to accomplish tasks;
- Confer with, Maintenance, engineering, quality, technology, purchasing and other departments, in order to resolve issues, and identify and review needs of the UGP area;
Technical
- Report potential dangers and interface with Maintenance Supervisors and Health & Safety to ensure the necessary corrective measures are taken.
Work together with H&S in improving the ergonomic work environment - Perform employee evaluations and execute, together with HRBP, necessary changes to increase efficiency
- Sets priorities in the maintenance interventions, and, with the support of the Maintenance, contributes to the updating of the maintenance plans
- Lead the development of new projects and the achieving of the objectives;
Production Scheduling
- Approves the weekly production plan, ensures the implementation and define actions in case of deviations
- Approves weekly production schedules, and address any deviation;
- Identify changes in order to maximize the capacity of the production lines.
Workplace Safety
- Guarantee compliance with health & safety regulations not limited to and including the assigned production area;
- Ensure accurate health & safety incident/accident reporting;
Human Resources
- Determine training needs in safety, regarding operational procedures and equipment use;
- Guarantee workplace training requirements are met for all personnel in area as necessary;
- Identify the training and development needs of employees and determine ways of improving skill levels.
- Manage personnel to ensure optimal production on production lines;
- Coach, motivate and guide employees; Lead by example
- Ensure continuous Absenteeism management through the appropriate actions
- Evaluation of the area’s employees with the contribution of the Shift Supervisors
Quality and Food Safety
- Ensure all program requirements/standards regarding quality and food safety are implemented, practiced and maintained
- Responsible for the hygiene and sanitation compliance of the production area;
Environmental & Energy
- Assist in the implementation of and conformance to the Sustainability, Environmental & Energy Management Systems
- Ensure the proper handling of production waste;
- Strive for constantly reducing our carbon footprint through the implementation of good practices and continuous improvement ideas
Continuous Improvement
- Responsible for continuous improvement methods towards the elimination of production line technical/technological problems
- Identifies and proposes continuous improvement initiatives and improvement areas
- Collaborate with Lean Manufacturing Specialist (SSP) in the development and application of Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Strive for continuous improvement by increasing productivity and reducing waste;
Who we are looking for:
- Bachelor's Degree in manufacturing, engineering, business administration or industrial management, or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience and a history of progressive experience in leadership roles in a production manufacturing setting; experience in Maintenance an asset
- Knowledge of production and processing, including raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods;
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, and leadership techniques
- Excellent Project Management skills
- Excellent communication skills, able to effectively interact and influence across different levels
- Proven leader with well practiced skills in motivating, coaching, mentoring, teaching, and guiding employees and directing people in a proactive and positive manner, identifying the best people for the job;
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint); SAP experience a plus
