Randstad Engineering is conducting a nationwide professional search for a Senior Controls Engineer specializing in Fanuc Robots for a full time, direct hire opportunity with a manufacturing company located near Nashville Tennessee area. The ideal candidate will have the competency and experience with Fanuc Robots, Robo Guide and DCS Zones to serve as the lead technical expert on the Controls Engineering team. This is a customer facing role where the Engineering Team meets with companies to provide production design, manufacturing, installation, and service support of custom-built machinery. Relocation assistance is available.

responsibilities:

The Controls Engineer will program control systems of assigned machine design projects. Responsibilities of the Controls Engineer include adhering to project guidelines as follows: maintain project schedules, design standards, customer specifications, quote requirements, software standards and documentation.

As part of a team that will work closely with customers and internal team members, this role requires the ability to communicate with all levels of key stakeholders (internal and external) and all levels of understanding with controls/operation processes. Excellent documentation is critical to this role.

Key responsibilities and qualifications of the Controls Engineer are:

  • Serve as the Control Engineers Team's Fanuc Robots Subject Matter Expert

    • Fanuc Robots, Robo Guide and DCS Zones (Dual Check Safety)
  • Create and document control system software programs using structured programming techniques
  • Participate in design and review meetings
  • Review customer control systems specifications and design premises to ensure compliance
  • Recommend exceptions and estimate cost for deviation using previous experience
  • Understand proper wiring methods
  • Write portions of the machine operation manual, specifically, the Controls and Operation sections
  • Support installation, test and debug machines and systems (both at manufacturing facility and at client locations
  • Responsible for relating all drawing updates to the designer after a job is complete
  • Provide support for any control system issue or concern with customer
  • Travel as required for client meetings, installation, and service (15% or less with new procedures)
  • Assist with quotations including pricing, write-ups, concept drawings, and schedules
  • Team player willing to learn and perform team duties, assist leadership as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Combination of education and hands on work experience equal to a minimum of 8 to 10+ years industry experience
  • Fanuc Robots: expert level competency with hands on experience in a factory / manufacturing environment, required

    • Proficient with Fanuc software: Robo Guide and DCS Zones (Dual Check Safety), required
  • Prior experience working at a machine, systems integrator, preferred

Please note:

  • This is an onsite role, work cannot be performed remote / virtual
  • While this role requires some field travel, the hiring company recognizes the importance of employees' family time and has put procedures in place to minimize both overtime and installation time required on the road.

The essential functions of this role include:
