Field Applications Engineer: Software Systems (S3-S5)
Location: Italy, Germany, France, Spain, UK Supporting customers in EMEA
The Role
Analog Devices Aerospace and Defense Field Applications Group is currently seeking an experienced engineer to assist in ADI’s customers transition from simulation to evaluation to prototyping to production of ADI devices in complex end systems. This position requires a strong candidate to help understand and implement ADI’s reference design offering and complete solutions in our customers end applications which can range from top level system architecture; MATLAB simulation models; HDL; embedded software; and low-level hardware. Demonstrating ADI’s value add, while optimizing customer design time and experience. The candidate should enjoy and excel at solving component and system level problems. The candidate will operate as an interface between customers, field applications engineers, sales engineers, product line applications engineers, and software and HDL developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Support customers on simulation, evaluation and prototyping of ADI’s high speed products.
- Support of customer embedded software development and debug.
- Enable internal ADI cross-functional teams to drive programs and develop high-quality solutions for customer adoption. Be the voice of the customer to internal ADI teams.
- Understanding and disseminating customers’ software system needs verses wants.
- Proposing system software solutions to customers. Be the voice of ADI into the customer.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key system architects, HDL, software and signal processing engineers at customers.
- Training customers on Analog Devices’ software solutions and products.
- Engage with customers, field applications engineers, and internal product line team to understand customer’s pain points and software application challenges within the Aerospace and Defense market.
- Drive customer and field awareness of our software solutions, clearly articulating value proposition and trade-offs.
Qualifications
Required:
- Must be a EU citizen
- BSEE or equivalent – MSEE preferred
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- 5+ years software experience (primarily embedded)
- Experience with microcontrollers (e.g., ARM processors), and low-level communication peripherals (including SPI, I2C, TDM, UART, CAN, etc.)
- Experience with microprocessors (eg ARM A9, A53, A72, RISC-V)
- Experience in the design and implementation of embedded software and device driver development
- Software / tools experience & Knowledge:
- Embedded C, C++, Python
- PC-based application software development (Pyton, MATLAB, etc)
- Experience with JIRA and Confluence and source code management tools (git, etc)
- Basic hardware knowledge – good understanding of electronics and embedded systems
- Knowledge and experience with FPGA and the corresponding platforms and tools from FPGA vendors (e.g., Xilinx and Intel)
- General and specialized DSP’s (e.g., SHARC)
- Microcontrollers
- Knowledge and experience with JESD204ABC is a bonus.
- Experience debugging software and hardware using basic lab equipment (oscilloscope, digital/protocol analyzers, spectrum analyzer, etc.)
- Excellent problem solving, analytical, and debugging skills
- Self-motivated and able to work autonomously and in a team to develop innovative solutions with minimal structure and formal processes
