Job description
We are looking for a Sous Chef that is proficient in all aspects of food preparation and kitchen management. The kitchen will be your domain and you will be comprehensively responsible for its efficient functioning. Most of all, you must have demonstrated proficiency in preparing rich, bold, full-flavor cuisine.
Responsibilities
- Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities for the restaurant and catered events
- Modify menus or create new ones as necessary
- Estimate food requirements and food/labor costs
- Maintain a working relationship with all purveyors
- Place weekly orders in accordance with event schedules
- Receiving orders to ensure accuracy and quality
- Supervise kitchen staff’s activities and productivity
- Monitor equipment for repairs and maintenance
- Recruit and manage kitchen staff
- Rectify arising problems or complaints
- Give prepared plates the “final touch”
- Perform administrative duties – costing, scheduling, inventory, etc.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Manage food and payroll costs
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
Requirements
- Proven working experience as a Sous chef
- Excellent record of kitchen management
- Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
- Capable of delegating multiple tasks
- Communication and leadership skills
- Keep up with cooking trends and best practices
- Working knowledge of various computer software programs preferred
- Degree in Culinary science or related certificate preferred

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
