Position Summary:
The Support Services Specialist I is responsible for multiple support services duties within the PAC. Duties include enhancing the patient experience, support UUG’s values of excellence, respect, and service with pride. This role is critical to maximizing physician time in the office, allowing the office staff to focus solely on the patients in the office/exam room, and ensuring that patients are receiving a superior experience before, during, and after their visit.
Primary duties & responsibilities:
- Assist with calling the data mining reports and, contacting patients who require follow-up.
- Properly interpret physician chart notes, including diagnosis and recommended follow-up to ensure patient contact only when warranted.
- On behalf of the physician attempt to schedule an upcoming appointment with the patient.
- Appropriately schedule patient appointments based on physician guidelines.
- Appropriately record patient contact outcomes in chart and track to minimize compliance risk.
- Maintain proficient knowledge of UUG site protocols and physician schedules/changes to ensure appropriate information is provided to patients.
- Call patients to obtain updated addresses.
- Other duties as assigned including, updating referring physician contact information, scanning/indexing, and mailing other miscellaneous patient letters.
- Assist with Appointment only Chats or Inbound phone support as the business requires.
- Maintain production goals identified for each assigned duty.
- Demonstrates regard for the dignity and respect of all patients, family members, staff, visitors, and office personnel, as defined in the practice Policy and procedures manual.
- Respect and understand the patient’s right to treatment and involvement in treatment decisions.
- Maintains confidentiality of all current and former patients/charts as required by practice policy and governing laws.
- Be expected to coordinate work efforts to effectively work with others productively.
- Represents the office in a manner that is consistent with the practice established policy. In dealings with the hospital(s), physician offices, and other health care professionals always represent the practice courteously and helpfully.
- Maintains attendance and punctuality to ensure that the office is operated efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Fill in for inbound/outbound calls to the job duties.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED
- 1-2 years of professional experience.
Knowledge, Competencies & Skills:
- Excellent computer skills
- Superb customer service skills
- Detailed orientated, able to multi-task in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
- Ability to work independently and efficiently
- Strong typing skills, communication skills, both verbal & written
Physical Requirements for the job:
- Able to sit, stand and or walk throughout the day
- Intermittently required to stoop, bend, speak and listen.
